Zygomycetes

Zygomycetes /zi″go-mi-se′tēz/ , a class of saprobic and parasitic fungi of the phylum Zygomycota; important pathogenic organisms are in the orders Entomophthorales and Mucorales. The fungi live in soil or on decaying plant or animal material. Some species can be used in the production of lipases and proteases; others can cause infection.
