Vineberg’s operation

Vineberg’s operation /vīn″bərgs/ [Arthur M. Vineberg, Canadian thoracic surgeon, 1903–1988] , (Obsolete) a technique in which the internal mammary artery is implanted into the myocardium to improve blood flow to the heart. Common in the 1950s, the procedure has been replaced by others, such as saphenous vein grafting.
