three-way irrigation catheter, a hollow, flexible tube with three lumens to faciliate irrigation of a body cavity, especially the urinary bladder. One lumen is for the instillation of fluids; the second for the evacuation of fluids, clots, and other materials; and the third to inflate a balloon to hold the catheter in place.
