thiotepa /thī′ōtep″ə/ , an antineoplastic alkylating agent. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed in the treatment of malignant neoplastic diseases, including adenocarcinoma of the breast and ovary, and urinary bladder carcinomas. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Bone marrow depression, pregnancy, or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. Dosage must be decreased if there is liver or kidney dysfunction. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the most serious adverse effects are bone marrow depression, anorexia, nausea, and headache.
