thiethylperazine /thī·eth′ilper″əzēn/ , a phenothiazine antiemetic. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed to control nausea and vomiting. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Parkinson’s disease, central nervous system disorders, liver or renal dysfunction, severe hypotension, or known hypersensitivity to phenothiazine medications prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the more serious adverse effects are hypotension, liver toxicity, extrapyramidal reactions, blood dyscrasias, and hypersensitivity reactions.
