Th1 cells, a subset of helper T cells that promote cell-mediated immune responses. Th1 cells are induced by cytokines like IL-12 and are essential for the host defense against intracellular pathogens. They secrete the cytokines INFγ, IL-2 and TNFα. See also helper T cell.
