testolactone /tes′təlak″tōn/ , an antineoplastic androgen analog. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed as palliative treatment of advanced postmenopausal breast cancer and in premenopausal women whose ovarian function has been terminated. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Pregnancy, lactation, or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. It is not given to men. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the more serious adverse effects are hypercalcemia and peripheral neuropathies with numbness or tingling.
