teratism /ter′ətiz′əm/ , any congenital or developmental anomaly that is produced by inherited or environmental factors or a combination of the two. Any condition in which a severely malformed fetus is produced. Also called teratosis. Kinds include atresic teratism, ceasmic teratism, ectopic teratism, ectrogenic teratism, hypergenetic teratism, symphysic teratism.
