spica bandage /spī″kə/ [L, spica, spike of wheat; Fr, bande, strip] , a figure-eight bandage in which each turn generally overlaps the previous to form a succession of V-like designs. It may be used to give support, to apply pressure, or to hold a dressing in place on the chest, limbs, thighs, or pelvis.
