sphingomyelin lipidosis, any of a group of diseases characterized by an abnormality in the ability of the body to store sphingolipids. Kinds include Gaucher’s disease, Niemann-Pick disease, Tay-Sachs disease. See also angiokeratoma corporis diffusum.
