sphenoethmoid recess /sfē′nō·eth″moid/ [Gk, sphen, wedge, eidos, form; L, recedere, to retreat] , a narrow opening in the lateral wall of the nasal cavity bounded above by the cribriform plate of the ethmoid and the body of the sphenoid and below by the superior nasal concha. It opens into the sphenoidal sinus of the skull.
