siderotic granules /sid′ərot″ik/ , inclusion bodies seen in the red blood cells of splenectomy patients and in cases of abnormal hemoglobin synthesis, sideroblastic anemia, and hemolytic anemia. The granules contain iron, which takes a Prussian blue stain. Also called Pappenheimer bodies.
