rizatriptan, a migraine agent. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is used in the acute treatment of migraine. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Factors prohibiting its use include angina pectoris, a history of myocardial infarction, documented silent ischemia, Prinzmetal’s angina, ischemic heart disease, concurrent use of ergotamine-containing preparations, uncontrolled hypertension, basilar or hemiplegic migraine, and known hypersensitivity. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Adverse effects include chest tightness, chest pressure, nausea, and dry mouth. Common side effects include dizziness, headache, and fatigue.
