rituximab, a miscellaneous antineoplastic. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is used to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (CD20 positive, B cell). ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Known hypersensitivity to this drug or to murine proteins prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Life-threatening effects include leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and bronchospasm. Other adverse effects include fever, chills, asthenia, headache, angioedema, hypotension, and myalgia. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, anorexia, irritation at the injection site, and rash.
