rhinoscopy /rīnos″kəpē/ [Gk, rhis + skopein, to look] , an examination of the nasal passages to inspect the mucosa and detect inflammation, deformities, or asymmetry, as in deviation of the septum. The nasal passages may be examined anteriorly by introducing a speculum into the anterior nares or posteriorly by introducing a rhinoscope through the nasopharynx. −rhinoscopic, adj.
