reasonably prudent person doctrine /rē″zənəblē′/ , (in law) the concept that a person of ordinary sense will exercise sound judgment in meeting the needs of another person. It is used as a legal standard in the evaluation of negligence. The conduct of the accused is compared to the reasonably prudent person.
