ranula

ranula /ran″yo͝olə/ pl. ranulae [L, rana, frog] , a large mucocele in the floor of the mouth, usually caused by obstruction of the ducts of the sublingual salivary glands and less commonly caused by obstruction of the ducts of the submandibular salivary glands. Also called hydroglossa.
