quick connect [ME, quic, living; L, connectere, to bind] , a plastic or similar connecting device that is attached to or implanted in a patient who will be joined to an electromechanical or other apparatus. A patient whose circulatory system is supported by an artificial heart, for example, may have a push-fit connector sewn to the natural atria, aorta, and pulmonary artery; a plastic lip on the artificial ventricle then can be securely snapped onto the quick-connect device.
