pyogenic granuloma

pyogenic granuloma, a small nonmalignant mass of excessive granulation tissue, usually found at the site of an injury. This condition is most often seen in pregnant women, children, and patients taking Indinavir, Soriatane, Accutane, and oral contraceptives. Most often a dull red, it contains numerous capillaries, bleeds readily, and is very tender. It may be attached by a narrow stalk. Treatment is with electrocautery or topical silver nitrate. Also called telangiectatic granuloma. See also granuloma.
