pericholangitis /per′əkō′lanjī″tis/ [Gk, peri + chole, bile, angeion, vessel, itis, inflammation] , an inflammatory condition of the tissues surrounding the bile ducts in the liver. Pericholangitis is a complication of ulcerative colitis and portal hypertension. Treatment of the ulcerative colitis has little effect on the liver disease. See also ulcerative colitis.
