parvovirus B19

parvovirus B19 /pär″vōvī″rəs/ , a small single-stranded deoxyribonucleic acid virus of the Parvoviridae family that infects humans, causing erythema infectiosum, aplastic crisis in hemolytic anemia, and other disorders. Another strain of the Parvoviridae, canine P2, causes acute enteritis and myocarditis in dogs.
