pantoprazole /panto′prah-zōl/ , a gastric acid pump inhibitor with properties similar to those of omeprazole. It is administered orally and intravenously as the sodium salt in the treatment of erosive esophagitis associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease and intravenously as the sodium salt in the treatment of hypersecretion associated with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome or other neoplastic conditions.
