oxyphil cell

oxyphil cell /ok″səfil/ , a cell of the parathyroid glands that takes up acidic stains and has a dark nucleus and fine, granular cytoplasm. Such cells occur singly or in small groups and increase in number with age. Also called oxyphilic cell.
