oxyopia /ok′sē·ō″pē·ə/ [Gk, oxys + opsis vision] , unusual acuteness of vision. A person with normal (20/20) vision when standing 20 feet (approximately 6 meters) from the standard Snellen eye chart can read the seventh line of letters, each of which is an eighth of an inch high. An individual with oxyopia can read smaller letters at that distance. Also called oxyopy.
