ookinete

ookinete /ō′əkinēt″/ [Gk, oon + kinein, to move] , the motile elongated zygote that is formed by the fertilization of the macrogamete during the sexual reproductive phase of the life cycle of a sporozoan, specifically the malarial parasite Plasmodium. It penetrates the lining of the stomach of the female Anopheles mosquito and attaches to the outer wall, where it forms an oocyst and gives rise to sporozoites.
