occupancy factor (T), a classification used to refer to the level of human occupancy of an area adjacent to a source of radiation. The classification level is used to determine the amount of shielding required in the walls. Examples of classification levels include the following: T, rated as full, for an office or laboratory next to an x-ray facility; partial, for corridors and restrooms; or occasional, for stairways, elevators, closets, and outside areas.
