Neufeld nail /nyo̅o̅″fəld/ [Alonzo J. Neufeld, American surgeon, 1906–1984] , an orthopedic nail with a V-shaped tip and shank used for fixating an intertrochanteric fracture. The nail is driven into the neck of the femur until it reaches a round metal plate screwed onto the side of the femur. It is secured to a receptacle on the plate. Also called Neufeld angled nail.
