monocular diplopia

monocular diplopia /monok″yələr/ [Gk, monos, single, oculus, eye; Gk, diploos, double, opsis, vision] , a condition in which a double image is perceived with one eye. The cause is a disorder in the refracting medium of the eye, such as a cataract, or partial dislocation of the lens. In rare cases more than two images may be seen with one eye. Also called uniocular diplopia.
