measles and rubella virus vaccine live, an active immunizing agent. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed for immunization against measles and rubella. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Immunosuppression, concomitant administration of corticosteroids, tuberculosis, known or suspected pregnancy, hypersensitivity to neomycin (e.g., eggs, chicken, or chicken feathers), neoplasms of the lymphatic system or bone marrow, or active infection prohibits its use. It should not be given for 3 months after the use of whole blood, plasma, or immune serum globulin, or for 1 month before or after immunization with other live virus vaccines, except mumps vaccine. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: The most serious adverse effect is anaphylaxis.
