Mansonella ozzardi

Mansonella ozzardi /man′sənel″ə/ , a parasitic worm that is indigenous to much of Latin America and the Caribbean islands. It is a relatively benign nematode that infects humans, sometimes causing hydrocele or lymphadenopathy. The larvae live in the bloodstream, and adult worms are found in the visceral mesenteries. The intermediate hosts are biting flies of the genus Culicoides.
