linea alba

linea alba [L, linea, line, albus, white] , the white part of the anterior abdominal aponeurosis in the middle line of the abdomen, made of connective tissue representing the fusion of three aponeuroses into a single tendinous band extending from the xiphoid process to the symphysis pubis. It contains the umbilicus. Also called Hunter’s line, white line. Compare linea semilunaris.
