lentigo

lentigo /lentī″gō/ pl. lentigines [L, freckle] , a tan or brown macule on the skin brought on by sun exposure, usually in a middle-aged or older person. It is benign, and no treatment is necessary. However, in some cases it may mimic melanoma and should be biopsied. Compare freckle.
