Leishman-Donovan body /lēsh″mən don″əvən/ [William B. Leishman, English pathologist, 1865–1926; Charles Donovan, Irish physician, 1863–1951] , the resting stage of an intracellular nonflagellated protozoan parasite (Leishmania donovani) that causes kala-azar, or visceral leishmaniasis, as it appears in infected tissue specimens.
