La Crosse encephalitis

La Crosse encephalitis, encephalitis caused by the La Crosse virus (a California serogroup virus in the family Bunyaviridae), transmitted by Aedes triseriatus, seen primarily in children, chiefly in the Midwestern United States. It is one of the most prevalent mosquito-borne diseases recognized in the United States. Most cases result in mild illness.
