Kupffer cells

Kupffer cells /ko͝op″fər/ [Karl W. von Kupffer, German anatomist, 1829–1902] , immobile macrophages that line liver sinusoids. Kupffer cells filter bacteria and other foreign proteins from the blood and initiate immune responses.
