Kerley lines /kur″lē/ [Peter J. Kerley, English radiologist, 1900-1979] , a fine threading of opaque lines that appears on chest x-ray images. This radiographic finding is consistent with fluid in the interstitial tissue of the lungs associated with certain disease conditions, such as congestive heart failure and pleural lymphatic engorgement. Also called septal lines.
