Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS, ks)

Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS, ks) [Moritz K. Kaposi] , a malignant, multifocal neoplasm of reticuloendothelial cells that begins as soft brownish or purple papules on the feet or hard palate and slowly spreads in the skin, metastasizing to the lymph nodes and viscera. It occurs most often in men and is associated with diabetes, malignant lymphoma, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or other disorders. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are usually recommended. Also called idiopathic multiple pigmented hemorrhagic sarcoma, multiple idiopathic hemorrhagic sarcoma.
