International Commission on Radiation Protection (ICRP)

International Commission on Radiation Protection (ICRP), a nongovernmental organization founded in England in 1928 to provide general guidance on the safe use of radiation sources, including appropriate protective measures and codes of practice for medical radiology. The ICRP was originally established as a source of information about the hazards of x-rays and radium in medicine but was reorganized in 1950 to include effects of nuclear energy.
