hysteric tremor [Gk, hystera, womb; L, tremere, to tremble] , 1. a fine rhythmic shaking in one extremity or of a generalized nature that may be an expression of fear, anxiety, or hysteria. 2. a coarse, irregular shaking that increases with voluntary movements. 3. a shaking that is transient and is caused by exposure to drugs or toxic substances rather than an organic disorder.
