hypophoria

hypophoria /-fôr″ē·ə/ , a type of strabismus in which the patient may not show signs of ocular muscle imbalance until the affected eye is covered, resulting in a downward deviation. Otherwise the central nervous system may attempt to compensate for the defect through a fusion of the images received from both of the eyes.
