granulosa cell tumor /gran′yo͝olō″sə/ [L, granulum, little grain] , a fleshy ovarian tumor with yellow streaks that originates in cells of the primordial membrana granulosa and may grow to a large size. Excessive production of estrogen, resulting in endometrial hyperplasia and menorrhagia, may be associated with the tumor. Also called granulosa cell carcinoma.
