Graduate Medical Education National Advisory Committee (GMENAC)

Graduate Medical Education National Advisory Committee (GMENAC), a committee established by order of the Secretary of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (now the Department of Health and Human Services) to study the personnel issues in medicine. The committee issued its final report in September 1980. Among its conclusions was that the supply of nurses in expanded roles, including nurse practitioners and nurse midwives, should be increased.
