Gambian trypanosomiasis

Gambian trypanosomiasis /gam″bē·ən/ , a usually chronic form of African trypanosomiasis, caused by the parasite Trypanosoma brucei gambiense. An infected individual may have relatively mild symptoms for months or years before developing the neurological symptoms of the terminal stage.
