fundoplication

fundoplication /fun′dəplikā″shən/ [L, fundus, bottom, plicare, to fold] , a surgical procedure involving making tucks (plication) in the fundus of the stomach around the lower end of the esophagus. The operation is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal and paraesophageal hernias. See also plication.
