erlotinib, a miscellaneous antineoplastic drug. ▪ INDICATIONS: This drug is used in the treatment of non–small cell lung cancer. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Pregnancy and known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibit its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: A life-threatening side effect of this drug is interstitial lung disease. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, anorexia, mouth ulceration, rash, conjunctivitis, eye pain, fatigue, infection, cough, and dyspnea.
