enteroglucagon /-glo̅o̅″kəgon/ , any of a group of glucagon-like hyperglycemic peptides, released by cells in the mucosa in the upper intestine in response to the ingestion of carbohydrates and fat and stimulating intestinal epithelial cell preparation and renewal. Enteroglucagons are similar to pancreatic glucagons but immunologically different. Glicentin and oxyntomodulin are the principal enteroglucagons.
