enchondroma

enchondroma /en′kəndrō″mə/ pl. enchondromas, enchondromata [Gk, en + chondros, cartilage, oma, tumor] , a benign, slowly growing tumor of cartilage cells that arises in the extremity of the shaft of tubular bones in the hands or feet. The growth of the neoplasm may distend the bone. Also called enchondrosis, true chondroma.
