A topical preparation is also available for treating atopic dermatitis, and unlabeled uses include the treatment of neuropathic pain. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Concomitant administration of monoamine oxidase inhibitors, recent myocardial infarction, seizure disorders, or known hypersensitivity to tricyclic medication prohibits its use. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: Among the more serious adverse reactions are GI, cardiovascular, and neurological disturbances. Sedation, dry mouth, and many drug interactions may occur.
