Dalton’s law of partial pressures

Dalton’s law of partial pressures /dôl″tənz/ [John Dalton, English chemist and mathematician, 1766–1844] , (in physics) a law stating that in a mixture of nonreacting gases, the total pressure exerted is equal to the sum of the partial pressures of the individual gases in the same quantity at the same temperature.
