cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride /sī″kləben″zəprēn/ , a muscle relaxant. ▪ INDICATIONS: It is prescribed in the short-term treatment of muscle spasm. ▪ CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hyperthyroidism, cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac failure, concomitant use of a monoamine oxidase inhibitor, or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. It is used with caution in conditions in which anticholinergics are contraindicated. ▪ ADVERSE EFFECTS: The most serious adverse effects are hypersensitivity reactions. Drowsiness, dry mouth, and dizziness commonly occur.
